Dundery Brook is one of the newest trails in Rhode Island, opening to the public last summer. It is a very simple and kid friendly hike consisting of a boardwalk just over a half mile long and a grass path the remainder of the hike that is also about a half mile. The trail starts at the tennis courts just west of the Little Compton Common. The boardwalk meanders through a densely wooded marsh with bogs and a stream crossing. The boardwalk ends at Bumble Bee Pond. There were many types of birds at the pond including several red-winged blackbirds and one in particular that caught my attention. The bird was flying still and then diving toward the pond. The third dive was into the water to capture whatever it was the bird was after. I then followed the grass path along the pond, coming across what I believe was a Spring Peeper frog, then continuing until its end at an open meadow. At this point I retraced my steps back to the parking area.
