The Schoolhouse Pond Preserve is a small area across the road from the Burlingame State Management Area. Although there is a parking area down by the pond we decided to park at the beginning of the access road. The first section of this hike follows a dirt road for a short distance through some residential properties before getting into the thick of the preserve. When the road reaches the parking area in the preserve the blue blazed trail heads into the woods. The road continues onto property of the Narragansett Indians and is off limits. The blue blazed trail winds through the woods mostly covered in pine needles. We stopped briefly at the small beach area to view the pond. Along the trail we came across several bird houses. The blue blazed trail eventually comes back to the access road where we turned left and retraced our steps back to the car.
