Osamequin is a small waterfront preserve wedged between the busy and bustling Wampanoag Trail and Hundred Acre Cove. A short and easy one mile hike here can bring you from woods to wetlands to fields to shoreline. Starting from the main parking area enter the preserve and follow the red blazed trail to the right. This trail leads you into the woods. You will hear the roar of traffic going by along this section but as you continue further down the trail you will soon disregard it. As the trail turns to the east you will pass over a couple bridges. Along this stretch on the right is a viewing platform that overlooks the wetlands. At the end of the red trail turn right and follow the yellow trail. It soon turns to orange as it turns to the left and back north. For this hike follow this trail almost completely back to the parking area. Along the way take a peek down the green blazed trails. They lead down to the shoreline where you can get a sweeping view of Hundred Acre Cove. Most of the green trail is closed now due to sea level rise, so doing the loop is now impossible. When you reach nearing the end of the orange trail look for blue blazes on your right. This trail takes you to the northern reaches of the property and an abandoned boathouse. This trail is passable most times but can tend to by soggy or wet during hide tides. After exploring the boathouse retrace your steps and turn right to finish the hike. Keep in mind that this area has a lot of tall grass. Do a thorough tick check when finished.
